Cambridge Rock Festival
Sanctuary Acoustics was commissioned to conduct noise monitoring on and off the festival site to assess noise levels both at source and at residential receptors. Reference was made to the Noise Council Code of Practice on the Control of Noise from Concerts and BS 4142.
Figures CR1, 2 and 3 shows the on-site noise monitoring at the site perimeter and near to the FOH mixing console to Stages 1 and 2.
Liaison with local environmental health officers was also conducted to identify prime locations for noise measurements near to residential dwellings. Cambridge Rock Festival has been conducted in recent years on farm land which comes under the jurisdiction of South Cambridgeshire District Council, however the festival site is close to Cambridge City and therefore potential noise break-out does not only affect South Cambridgeshire but also Cambridge City particularly with differing wind directions and temperature inversions. Consequently, liaison with environmental health officers from both authorities was paramount.
Figures CR4, 5 & 6 show the noise monitoring at nearby residential dwellings.
